A CENTURY OF HISTORY

1920. Don Juan Bautista Gutiérrez opens a small store in San Cristóbal, Totonicapán, Guatemala.

1936. Juan Bautista Gutiérrez created Molino Excelsior.
1964. The Villalobos Farm was created, starting the poultry operation in Guatemala.
1971. Pollo Campero was born.
1972. The expansion of the poultry and restaurant operations to El Salvador and Central America began.
1988. CMI started operations in the construction sector.
1994. Pollo Campero launched the franchise program. In this same decade, the Finance Business Unit was established to meet the financing needs of the corporation’s companies.
2002. The Pollo Campero franchises started in the United States.
2004. Operations of the Energy Business Unit began.
2006. Pollo Campero began its expansion to the United States, Europe and Asia.
2013. Acquisition of a flour mill in southern Mexico, mainly dedicated to producing wheat flour.
2013. Purchase of Telefónica Movistar in Nicaragua and Panama.
2015. Acquisition of the Gemina wheat flour mill in Chinandega, Nicaragua.
2016. Purchase of one of the regional wind and solar energy platforms.
2017. The first 5-star hotel is inaugurated in Quetzaltenango, Latam Hotel Plaza Pradera Quetzaltenango.
2017. Acquisition of 50% of PRONACA, the largest food company in Ecuador.
2019. Made an investment in Toledano, a leader in the poultry industry in Panama.
